Dr. Wendy Collini and other members of Mansfield Cares recognized the need to provide medical care for the financially challenged in the area. They began a free medical clinic in a part-time office in 2003. Since then, Mansfield Cares made it a mission to raise the money to purchase the land and build a clinic that will provide not only medical, but also dental and eye care to the community for years to come. Mansfield Cares will continue to partner with The Linda Nix Family Caring Place Clinic to provide health care services for those in need.

The clinic is named for Linda Nix, a business teacher at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy for 11 years, and a Mansfield resident for 23 years. She lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2008. For more than a decade, Linda showed her students how to handle their money. Now her family has shown how their gift in her name, can impact a community. Many people do not have proper health care and their gift to Mansfield Cares and The Linda Nix Family Caring Place Clinic will help provide medical care to many people.
